DRAFT SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT 1003(G) FUNDING REQUIREMENTS

DRAFT SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT 1003(G) FUNDING REQUIREMENTS

The US Department of Education (USDOE) has published the draft regulations for School Improvement 1003(g) funds (regular and ARRA).   There are significant changes proposed - the proposed requirements for schools in improvement under Title I are definitely "ramped up" from what we have seen previously within NCLB.

The draft regulations are posted in the Federal Register and currently open for public feedback before it is finalized.  ODE is planning to respond, but it is imperative that we receive thoughtful comments from all stakeholders.  The USDOE has indicated that the public comment period will be open for 30 days past August 25, 2009.  Send your comments no later than September 10 to Brad Capener, Title I Education Program Specialist, at brad.capener@state.or.us. We will assemble and forward them to USDOE.

There are two attachments below for your review.

  1. The PDF of the Federal Registry
  2. The USDOE PPT

Thank you and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.
